DISPOSABLE BELIEVERS

Disposable believers—we toss them all aside
If they will not measure up, with us they can’t abide
They try their hardest to arrive
But years of habits still collide
To keep them from the other side
And so we leave them out to die

Disposable believers—for them we have no time
Why bother with the one—we still have the ninety nine
Some of them appear unkempt
Some are socially inept
Some are deeply stuck in debt
Would losing one cause us regret?

Disposable believers—inconvenient; in our way
If we invest ourselves in them then surely we will pay
Taking up our precious time
All they do is gripe and whine
Our resources they will bind
And we don’t get time to unwind

Disposable believers—it’s time for show and tell
See the famous people that "we" rescued from hell
But when the act becomes a snare
And they choose not to perform there
With dollar signs no longer shared
And so for them we just don’t care

Disposable believers—The harvest in the fields
Our Itty-bitty garden could never grow such yields
The broken and outsider
The foreigner and stranger
The sick and the endangered
Looking for the Life Changer

Disposable believers, when seen through Jesus eyes
Don’t look much different than what’s behind our disguise
How dare we judge who can be saved
How dare we stand and block the way
Just who are we anyway
Sinners saved by God’s grace

When God Comes In Revival By Charles G. Finney

A revival breaks the power of the world and of sin over Christians. It brings them to such vantage ground that they get a fresh impulse toward heaven. They have a new foretaste of heaven and new desires after union with God; and the charm of the world is broken, and the power of sin overcome.
When the churches are thus awakened and reformed, the reformation and salvation of sinners will follow, going through the same stages of conviction, repentance, and reformation. Their hearts will be broken down and changed. Very often the most abandoned profligates are among the subjects. Harlots and drunkards and infidels and all sorts of abandoned characters are awakened and converted. The worst among human beings are softened, and reclaimed, and made to appear as lovely specimens of the beauty of holiness.
"O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known, in wrath remember mercy" ( Hab. 3:2).
